Journeys: Discover Egypt
Follow in the footsteps of the Pharaohs on a remarkable journey through Egypt. Uncover its most iconic archaeological sites - Abu Simble, Philae Temple, Edu fu Temple, Kom Ombo Temple and the Valley of the Kings - with expert-led tours through each of these jaw-dropping wonders. Experience the warmth and hospitality of Egyptian culture with a food tour through Cairo, a visit to a community farming project dedicated to empowering local farmers and women, a meet-and-greet with locals at a G for Good project, and a traditional Egyptian meal in the home of a Nubian family.

Highlights
Marvel at the breathtaking pyramids of Giza the oldest and last remaining of the original Seven Wonders of the World, Tour the majestic site of Abu Simbel and relish in the striking rock-cut temples built by Pharaoh Ramses II, Sample traditional Egyptian fare with a special dinner served in the home of a local Nubian family, Join an archaeologist and learn about the ongoing excavations of some of Egypt’s most famed archeological sites - including the West Bank at Luxor.

Accomodation
On this trip you can expect to stay in local hotels or pensions (with the exception of the start and finish hotels, which are often larger city hotels), which will vary a little in standard and facilities: some may not have elevators, air-conditioning or English-speaking staff, but most importantly all are in excellent central locations to give you maximum time for exploring the sights.

Group Leader
This G Adventures group trip is accompanied by one of our group leaders, otherwise known as the National Geographic Expedition Leader. The aim of the Expedition Leader is to take the hassle out of your travels and to help you have the best trip possible. They will provide information on the places you are travelling through, offer suggestions for things to do and see, recommend great local eating venues and introduce you to our local friends. While not being guides in the traditional sense you can expect them to have a broad general knowledge of the countries visited on the trip, including historical, cultural, religious and social aspects. We also use local guides where we think more specific knowledge will add to the enjoyment of the places we are visiting - we think it's the best of both worlds.
